glaive

“phobie d'impulsion,” a self-reflection on his mental health, sees glaive breakdown the flaws he sees in himself. Over a fast-paced and rough guitar instrumental, he speaks on his past experiences, current day struggles, and vision of death—a common theme throughout his 2023 discography. The French title, which translates to “impulse phobia”—the fear of suddenly committing an auto or hetero-aggressive, alludes to the thought of him taking his own life, which he silently expresses in the song’s second verse.

First teased on September 4, 2023, “phobie d'impulsion” made its snippet debut two days later via glaive’s Instagram, alongside few lyrics posted to his Twitter. Later that month, ‍re6ce—a friend and tour partner of glaive—would reveal the song’s suggestive letter of a cover art; glaive spoke out about this on Twitter, however, went on to preview the song—revealing a darker lyric in the intro—once more a week later via TikTok. Following the first tease of a bit of a mad one in late October, glaive would stop previewing the song until December 2023, which changed when he directly revealed the song’s second verse on the first of that month, and posted full quality snippets to TikTok—teasing a release—and Instagram shortly past midnight on the sixth.
