Breathe (Original No Rap Version)

Blu Cantrell

The original version of the song “Breathe” released on July 28, 2003 contained in the physical copies of the single features vocals only from Blu Cantrell. Originally intended to be on her second studio album Bittersweet, it was finally replaced with the rap version featuring Jamaican dancehall rapper Sean Paul.

On the first verse, Blu rap/sings about her come up and the success she enjoys, calling out the haters who didn’t believe in her and thanking her fans. On the rest of the song, she talks to her lover and states that she’s feeling unappreciated and losing interest in him. She finally suggests that maybe they should break up for a while.

Although the Sean Paul version was used for the single’s official video, an altered version of it with just Blu was uploaded on her official YouTube channel in 2017.
