“Snowed in at Wheeler Street” is the fifth track from Kate Bush’s 50 Words for Snow, her second album of 2011. It tells the tale of the souls of 2 lovers who are continuously meeting each other throughout different periods of time, pulled together by love and destiny, but never managing to stay together.

Returning the album to a minor key, it features Elton John alongside Kate on the vocals. A big hero of Kate’s, Elton was the only person she had in mind to take the role of the ever-cursed lover of her character and was delighted when he was not only free to, but wanted to do the track. Kate herself has described Elton’s vocal performance as “so emotive” which was most likely aided by the fact he didn’t, nor did he want to, hear the track prior to working on it with Kate.
