Adventures of Super Rhyme (Rap)

Jimmy Spicer

An idiosyncratic old school joint, it was recorded at the Platinum Factory studio in Brooklyn and released in 1980 as a 12-inch on Dazz Records. The music is another studio band interpretation of the well-mined “Good Times” riddim, with a little bit more percussion than usual and some flying-through-space noises

The song clocks in at 15:30, making it one of the longest songs in the early days. No hook to speak of, but some weird stories about Dracula (rapped in what I’m sure is an accurate Transylvanian accent), Aladdin (the first time rap goes to Baghdad), and the titular Superman character

Jimmy Spicer’s other notable song is “Money (Dollar Bill, Y'all),” which does have a memorable hook. He is also the cousin of Count Coolout, who did “Rhythm, Rap, Rock”
