10 Mile Stereo

10 Mile Stereo

Beach House

“10 Mile Stereo” is a deeper cut off of Teen Dream that packs an emotional punch. A slow, rolling riff introduces the song, and Legrand’s measured vocals draw the tension out until the song hits a minor explosion in the chorus.

Backed by an organ and drumbeat that is urgent by Beach House standards, the narrator denies the obvious (“it can’t be gone” when it surely is) in the chorus to give the song both a melancholy and hopeful tinge in turn.

The song was used in a Guinness ad, which aired only in Ireland [source: The FADER].
