Sweet Emotion

Sweet Emotion

Aerosmith

“Sweet Emotion” was released in April 1975 by Columbia Records on Aerosmith’s third album Toys in the Attic. The single version was released for radio play on May 19th, 1975. Sweet Emotion was also Aerosmith’s first Top 40 single, reaching No. 36 on July 19th, 1975.

Steven Tyler was inspired to write the lyrics about his anger & jealousy when Joe Perry moved out of the apartment the band shared to live with his then-girlfriend Alyssa. It is notable for its “slippery, slimy, melodically delicious” bass intro, sugar packets being used instead of maracas, and the vibraphone slaps – including one slap that broke it!
