The Hot Boys were a rap group consisting of B.G., Lil' Wayne, Juvenile, and Turk (Juvenile is not featured on this particular track, but he does have a cameo in the video.) This song, “I Need a Hot Girl” featuring label mates the Big Tymers (Birdman/Baby and Mannie Fresh), was their most successful, peaking at #65 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1999. The song, off their album Guerrilla Warfare, features many qualities found in most early Cash Money Records releases, including being hook-driven and having a characteristic bounce-influenced backing track produced by Mannie Fresh

The four members of the Hot Boys also had notable solo careers:

  1. Juvenile was the most successful member of the group at the time of this release with his hit song “Back That Azz Up.” He would go on to release “Slow Motion” in 2004 that was a #1 hit and is his most successful song to date

  2. B.G. had released a moderate hit two months before the album was released called “Bling Bling.” This would be his only song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100

  3. Turk only released 2 solo singles before his conviction for murdering a police officer in 2005. Neither of them charted and he is still serving his sentence

  4. Lil' Wayne would not release his debut album until later that year, but it would receive “Platinum” status from the RIAA. He would go on to become one of the most successful rappers of all time, forming Young Money Entertainment and creating the worldwide smash hit “Lollipop,” among other songs
