Big Jet Plane

Angus & Julia Stone

“Big Jet Plane” was originally featured on Angus' 2009 solo album Smoking Gun under the title “Lady of the Sunshine”. It was re-recorded by Angus and his sister Julia for their sophomore studio album, Down The Way. The song became one of the duo’s most successful single.

At the ARIA Music Awards 2010, the track won the Single of the Year award. On the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2010, ranking of the most voted tracks by the listeners of Australian radio station Triple J, the song was the most voted one, achieving the top position. Still in 2010, Big Jet Plane was certified platinum in Australia, with over 70 thousand copies sold.

In an interview Angus said the following about the track:

“Big Jet Plane” I wrote a while ago. I was at a festival and I met a girl by the creek and she took me to the places I needed to go and it was all good and I wanted to take her away with me, but I couldn’t, so I wrote a song about it.
