All About Tonight

All About Tonight

Pixie Lott

Released as the lead single from her sophomore album, Young Foolish Happy, “All About Tonight” is an infectious and carefree dance-pop tune where Pixie sings about letting loose and living the moment while partying all night long with her friends.

Written in L.A. during a songcamp, songwriter Tebey explained how the track was born:

I did the camp and stayed for an extra week to do some writing. I had started working with a new manager, Ed Jefferson, who’s British. He set me up with producer Brian Kidd and when we got together, he had the track done and my job was to write the top line. I wrote the verse and started on the chorus, but I wasn’t really loving it; I didn’t think it was as strong as it should be. I called my friend Tommy Lee James, who’s my main co-writer. He just happened to be in Los Angeles so I had him come by the studio and we wrote the rest of the song together after redoing the chorus. We weren’t trying to write for her. We just wanted to write a great, upbeat pop song and it just so happened that it was what they were looking for in the next stage of her career, which is to try and break her in America…but the song can definitely work in the U.K. as well. The song made its way to A&R execs Jamie Nelson and Joe Kentish at Mercury, Lott’s label in the U.K. – she’s on DefJam in the U.S. – and they showed immediate interest in the song.

In the UK, the song debuted at #1 and was nominated for Single of the Year at the 2012 Brit Awards.
