Aesthetics of Hate

Aesthetics of Hate

Machine Head

The third track from Machine Head’s 2007 album The Blackening, and the first single from that album. Written by guitarist and vocalist Robert Flynn, “Aesthetics Of Hate” is named after a scathing piece on “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott that was made just after his death in 2004, and also functions as a retaliation against that article and all the hate and disrespect shown in it against Dimebag.

Flynn, a big fan of Dimebag during his time with Pantera, felt so offended by the article’s praising of his murder that he had to put his reaction to it into song. The result is a relentless, hard-hitting track that netted the band a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance.
