Second & Sebring

Second & Sebring

Of Mice & Men

This song was on Of Mice & Men’s self titled album that was released in 2010. With a combination of unique clean vocals and screams, as well as meaningful lyrics, the song is one of Of Mice & Men’s most well known and successful singles to date.

The song was about Austin’s mother, who passed away from Marfan Syndrome when he was 17; it was named after the streets he lived on when she passed away.

In response to an act of disrespect by temporary vocalist Jerry Roush, Carlile said:

The song’s screaming parts were written by me, and for my mother, who passed away when I was 17 years of age. It is titled ‘Second & Sebring’ because I lived in Sebring Court, on the corner of Second Street, in LeHigh Acres Florida when this happened to me. My mother was the most important person in my life, and taught me more than anyone will ever know. She was an angel on earth. I love and miss her dearly.
