“Centurion” marks the third collaboration with Earl’s good friend Vince Staples. On the track, Vince continues his hostility towards fake rappers in the game, similar to “Hive,” and further elaborates on his gang-centered life. Earl continues the narrative in his verse, and raps in the perspective of a mob or drug leader, detailing his rise from a low criminal to a high drug lord who is now hunted by the Feds.

The production also carries heavy drums and an eerie synth which captures the uneasiness felt throughout the whole track. This makes it fit Doris thematically because of all the eerie production, most notable on the aforementioned “Hive” and the lead November 2012 single, “Chum.”
