The Ghost of You

My Chemical Romance

With some of the most extreme grief and powerful vocals from Three Cheers, “The Ghost of You” explores the heartbreak one feels with the unexpected loss of a loved one.

Continuing on the album’s story, “The Ghost of You” tells listeners of the protagonist’s longing for his missing love, and frustration from worrying he’ll never complete his task to bring her back.

The music video features the band as soldiers from World War II. It is believed that the scene is set on the Normandy Invasion. Hundreds of thousands died that day, and the video features Mikey being shot.

Gerard later said in an interview that Mikey’s death was director Mark Debiak’s idea.
