With its full-bodied vocals, “Latch” sums up the delirious feeling of falling head over heels in love with someone.

Showstopping, indelible and effusive—not to mention successful! It hit 11 in the UK and peaked at 7 in the US almost 2 years after its original release date. It also inspired Disclosure and Smith to collaborate again, with the two of them working together later on “Omen.”

British singer Sam Smith, who provides the vocals on the track, was initially hesitant to jump on the project. In an interview with KISS FM UK, they were quoted as saying:

I remember hearing “Latch” and I didn’t even know whether it was good or not, because I didn’t know electronic music or dance music. It just wasn’t for me.

Fortunately, despite their early inexperience, they took the opportunity and their career was launched.
