Lowestoft boy Chris Hardman came to fame on Rock School, a reality TV show in which Gene Simmons of KISS fame forms a rock band out of a class of British high-schoolers. A week after a live performance with female band mates on Rock School, Hardman signed a deal with RCA Records, eventually releasing “Checkin' It Out” as his first solo record. It reached Number 3 on the UK singles chart in September 2006.

Eight and a half years later, Hardman took his own life.
