On “Fall Away,” Tyler expresses the conflict he finds within himself as he struggles with his spirituality. The song bears a depressing and suffering tone, quite fitting to the subject matter. Tyler seems to go back and forth between a desire to fight the disconnection he feels to religion in the Chorus and accepting it in Verse 1 and Verse 2.

The second verse on “Fall Away” was repurposed from an earlier song titled “Drown” off Tyler Joseph’s 2008 independently released solo album, No Phun Intended.
