“Yeah!” was released as the lead single to Usher’s fourth album Confessions. He connected with fellow Atlanta representatives Ludacris and Lil Jon for this crunk R&B jam with a synthesized beat that is a remixed version of Lil Jon’s beat for Petey Pablo’s hit single “Freek-A-Leek.” “Yeah!” was a huge international hit as it reached #1 on several pop charts, including the US Billboard Hot 100, where it topped the chart for 12 consecutive weeks before it was knocked out by Usher’s follow-up single “Burn.” “Yeah!” was the #1 song on Billboard’s year-end chart and #2 on the decade-end chart. The single achieved multi-platinum status in multiple countries while it also reached diamond status in the US with more than 13 million sales.

“Yeah!” has been featured on several “best of” lists, including the top spot on Time magazine’s Best Songs of 2004 list and a rank of #290 on Rolling Stone’s list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. “Yeah!” has also won several awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration as well as two MTV Video Music Awards for Best Dance Video and Best Male Video.

Ludacris boasted that the three of them were going to make a collaboration album in response to the reception the song received. The trio went on to remix Usher’s song “Red Light” and collaborated on Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz’s song “Lovers and Friends,” as well as the track “SexBeat” but a full project never materialized.
