“Again Tonight” is one of two top 40 hits from Whenever We Wanted, reaching #36 in March 1992. It also topped the US Rock Chart. Rolling Stone called it “a fine, loose-limbed stomper, a call for physical release.”

The song is a prime example of Mellencamp’s shift from the more serious themes and rootsy music of his previous two albums back to the elemental, feel-good music of Whenever We Wanted.
