All Those Years Ago

All Those Years Ago

George Harrison

Initially a track written for Ringo Starr (who found the vocal range too high), George reworked it and released it in 1981 as a tribute to his dear friend and former Beatles bandmate John Lennon, who was murdered in 1980.

Ringo, Paul McCartney and his wife Linda, and George Martin contributed to the track as well, making it one of the few post-Beatles collaborations between the surviving members.

The song peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, #13 on the U.K. Singles chart, topped Canada’s RPM Singles chart and topped Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart for a week in July of 1981.
