A Caution To The Birds deals with the fragility of human life and how, in order to live in a sane way, we put the thoughts of our own mortality (the truth) completely out of our minds. Or we drown them out with other thoughts (there’s order in the sound – sound being other thoughts of course).
It’s life as a gradual decomposition (crumbling apart) that’ll destroy us all in the end.
It’s a song about how thin the thread of our lives is, and how it doesn’t pay to look beyond anything other than the here and now (this moment under foot) sometimes.
