In an episode of their podcast “Oh! Brother,” former Fall members Steve and Paul Hanley discuss this reference with guest Steve Albini. The three talk about the long-running rumor that Steve Albini was going to engineer a Fall album. They jokingly put forth a possible explanation of this line: Mark E. Smith was waiting for a delayed train one day, when an over-eager fan approached and started asking him unwelcome questions about whether Steve Albini was going to record the next Fall album. MES then surmised Albini and the train system had conspired to bother him at that moment. The Hanleys and Albini did not take this prospect seriously, and had no evidence that it ever happened. They were simply trying, humorously, to explain how MES might have connected Albini to the trains.
