Brain Washed Follower

Brain Washed Follower

De La Soul (Ft. Chi-Ali)

Jeff, a brainwashed follower, runs into De La Soul and asks them why they don’t act like the more prominent gangster rappers in hip-hop. This track provides a bit of context to the song “The Mack Daddy on the Left.”

Jeff is voiced by Chi-Ali, a fellow Native Tongues member, who made his debut with this track and “The Mack Daddy on the Left.” He was a young 14 years old when he recorded this track.

This track was included as a “C” side of the 12" “Me Myself and I” single. The vinyl included parallel grooves that meant the needle would randomly chose one of two sides to follow, leading to either an alternate mix of “Me Myself and I” or this track.

Jeff later makes a small appearance on the “Double Huey Skit.”

The beat comes from the Ruby Andrews son “You Made A Believer Out of Me.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flWC0qUJB1o
