Ain’t That Peculiar

Japan

A peculiar, really strange cover of a 1965 Motown R&B hit originally by Marvin Gaye. This cover bears almost no resemblance to the original in composition or vocals, with Sylvian’s voice rapidly swaying back and forth throughout the verses on top of an energetic bass rhythm.

A slightly different version is present on the B-side to “Ghosts” – which adds some more keyboard textures by Richard Barbieri to the introduction and outro of the song.
