This song refers to the 1976 assassination attempt on Bob Marley’s life. Three gun men broke into his house. Marley was shot 3 times but survived. The shooting occurred in the middle of an election and political violence. Bob Marley was calling for peace and agreed to perform a peace concert.

Even after being shot, Marley walked out of the hospital two days later and still performed at the concert.
