#GUERNICA
3.5m x 7.8m, oil on canvas, 1937.

Guernica is one of Pablo Picasso’s most harrowing works. The painting is three and a half metres tall by just under eight metres wide, so the viewer is confronted by its images of war, carnage, and destruction on an enormous scale: the effect is immersive. Currently it is part of the permanent collection of the Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain. (Unfortunately, the best you can do on a computer monitor is to view the painting in high resolution.
