Breakdown

Seether

“Breakdown” is the third track on South African rock band Seether’s fourth studio album, Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces.

The track also appears on Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces (Bonus Track Version) and Seether: 2002-2013.

This song is about staying strong and keeping your head up, even when it seems like the whole world has turned against you.

In an interview with Frank Jenks, lead singer Shaun Morgan clarifies that while the song is not meant to be a direct response to Evanescence’s “Call Me When You’re Sober”, it was definitely inspired by it, and by the fallout that resulted from it. Recalling an encounter he had with a group of Evanescence fans in Toronto, who blasted the aforementioned song out of their car in order to condescend to him, Morgan states,
“There are many things I could say about [Amy Lee], which I’ve never said, and to this day I will refuse to say…”
