Here and Now peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped Billboard’s R&B chart for 2 weeks in December of 1989. It also peaked at #3 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart.

In 1991, the song won Luther his first Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.

Vandross performed the song on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show and in the two-part “Do Not Pass Go” (season 5) of 227, where he performed during Rose and Warren’s wedding ceremony in early 1990.
