Where Have You Been

Where Have You Been

JAY-Z & Beanie Sigel

The closing track of Jay-Z’s fifth studio album, “Where Have You Been” offers a therapeutic opportunity for Hov and Beans to address a commonality between the two: having an absentee father.

This is known as one of Hov’s finest accomplishments as a songwriter, providing us with one of the most introspective, vulnerable and moving records found in his acclaimed discography. Beans also delivers a heartfelt verse, where he weeps and rages over his abusive father.

Produced by Tété, the song samples the main loop of famed Spanish singer Camilo Sesto’s 1978 song “Agua de Dos Ríos.”
