“As You Turn Away” is about a relationship between two people; one is trying to save the relationship by doing all she can, and the other has already given up and doesn’t want it anymore. She has put everything into saving their relationship, to the point where she has nothing left to give anymore, with the only option being to walk away regardless of how much pain it will cause.
