DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince

The theme song and opening sequence for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air set the premise of the show: Will Smith is a street-smart teenager, born and raised in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and because of a neighborhood fight, he was sent by his mother to live with his wealthy aunt and uncle in the affluent Bel-Air neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.

While The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air began airing in 1990, the extended version of the theme song was officially released as a single in Europe in 1992 with the title “Yo Home to Bel-Air.” The single earned a Silver certification in the United Kingdom to represent 200,000 units sold and also reached the Top 5 on the pop charts in Spain and the Netherlands.
