It speaks directly to the fans explaining that even if they never really liked each other that much inside the group (“We never said we loved each other after all”) they are greatful for the opportunity the fans gave them. They are putting an end to the Mötley experience “before it starts to rot”. As Nikki sums it up in the intro: we’d rather just break up than be bland, meaning that they feel like it’s got to the end and they want to go out in style; that is why this song became the anthem of their last world tour.
