Party and Bullshit

Party and Bullshit

The Notorious B.I.G.

Biggie’s solo debut track

The “Party and Bullshit” line is a reference to a song called “When the Revolution Comes” by The Last Poets

Biggie turned the original – which was meant to criticize people who did nothing but party and bullshit – on its head.

Per Bad Boy: The Influence of Sean “Puffy” Combs On the Music Industry, Puffy tried to get Will Smith on a new version of this song intended for Born Again. While no new version made the album, an official remix eventually came out with Biggie’s wife, Faith Evans, singing on the hook.

This was his first and only debut solo single under Uptown Records, after the release of this song, Puffy was fired from Uptown Records, and after that, he took B.I.G. with him and later formed Bad Boy Entertainment with a joint venture with Arista Records.
