A World Alone

A World Alone

Lorde

A World Alone is the closing track of the standard version of Lorde’s debut album “Pure Heroine”.
The song pictures a world where she is surrounded by shallow, fake and double-faced people, her friends included, and how she feels alone cause she doesn’t belong with them.
Even if she knows that eventually her relationship is going to end, she finds peace, and a new, different way of living in the arms of this person who doesn’t judge her.
This world she pictures is also full of haters and their talking, the Internet and how much it’s easy to write rude comments, but since she can’t control what other people say, she doesn’t care, and she lets them talk.
The song (and the album with it) ends with “Let ‘em talk” which can be related to the first line of “Tennis Court”, the opening track of the album, “Don’t you think that it’s boring how people talk?”.

Also, sometimes when singing live she adds the line “The sky gets dark and people are talking, I follow my heart and people are talking”, just before “Let ‘em talk”, still reminiscing about the fact that whatever happens, people will always find something to say.
