As the title suggests, this song is about two people’s first date together. One of them is self-conscious and nervous about what the other thinks, but enjoys the excitement and wishes to savor the night for as long as possible.

“First Date” is the second single from 2001’s TOYPAJ and placed on charts internationally, including peaking at #6 on US Billboard’s Alternative Songs.

The song’s music video takes place in the 1970s and features the band members in character dressed in stereotypical 70s fashion, driving around in a Volkswagen van, and having a good time, often at the expense of others. The video parodies and pays homage to the pop group The Bee Gees and the 1993 comedy Dazed and Confused, which follows high-schoolers in 1976. It also features cameos from fellow pop-punkers Jordan Pundik and Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory.
