In this track, Drake discusses the transition from a childhood without a father to the top rapper in the game.

In the first verse, Drake claims “mothafuckas never loved us”, a stark contrast from later in the third verse, where he talks about his luxurious life and “tennis matches at the crib.”

This is a song for all who grew up without real love from a parent. Also for those in the margins of society who the general upper-class community never loved or funded.

It’s also worth noting that Drizzy’s third verse in the song is in the same structure as Mase’s verse in “Mo Money Mo Problems”, which is an entire song dedicated to the woes of having too much money, and “suffering from success”.

Like the general theme of NWTS, this song captures the transitions Drake has encountered progressing through life, while still remaining on his “worst behavior.”
