A Design for Life

Manic Street Preachers

“A Design For Life” was written by Nicky Wire, with music by James Dean Bradfield and Sean Moore, and explores working class identity in Britain.

It was their first single following the disappearance of Richey Edwards, peaking at #2 in the UK. It was also track #2 on Everything Must Go, and has featured on all the band’s compilation albums – unsurprisingly, as it has become their most well-known song.

Its video included scenes of fox hunting and Royal Ascot to represent what the band saw as class privilege.
