She’s Kinda Hot

5 Seconds of Summer

“She’s Kinda Hot” is the lead single of 5 Seconds of Summer’s second album, Sounds Good Feels Good. It was released on July 17th, 2015. The song was originally going to be sung by only Ashton, but they loved it so much that they decided to make it a group effort. An alternative version plays as the album’s second track.

It’s an anthem for the “losers” and “outcasts” of the world who live proudly despite what other people say. It’s a harder pop-rock sound than their self-titled effort, with more guitars and even some profanity.

The song channels the pop-punk sound of the early 2000s, which is not surprising seeing as guitarist Michael Clifford and drummer Ashton Irwin co-wrote the song with Joel and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte.
