Ghost Lights

Ghost Lights

Woodkid

Ghost Lights begins with a haunting organ overture, then a deep drum beat begins. Woodkid’s haunting voice rises above the increasing instrumentation, with the added instrumentation of a metal-against-metal sound and church bells.
At the chorus, strings begin a sweeping, almost-triumphant movement which, along with the increased percussive tempo, rises the action through the chorus. The return of the verses strips the instrumentation down again, but rebuilds slowly. As we reach the end of this epic score, the pitch rises with the addition of brass. As we almost reach the conclusion, the music suddenly tapers off, leaving the listener intrigued and wanting more.
Truly a stellar and moving work.
