In “Slut Freestyle,” Cadet takes his listener on a journey through his various experiences with the opposite sex: flirting in his adolescence; being faced with deceit and desire as a young adult, as well as regrets in adulthood. Recalling a broad spectrum of thoughts and feelings, he examines his treatment of women and shares some of the lessons he’s learned. It’s like an excerpt of his journal, coupled with snippets of therapy sessions, translated into rap. In part, it is this frankness that has drawn listeners.

In an interview with Link Up TV, he expressed his reservations before releasing the track:

When I dropped “Slut,” I thought, one hundred per cent, I’m losing out on every female fan I’ve ever gained in my life; thought that was it — done. But people respect honesty, man, and it paid off. To be fair, I didn’t know they’d respect honesty until I did it.
