It’s an acoustic love ballad tinged with Miley’s need to know if her lover’s by her side. Given many songs in Bangerz are inspired by her breakup with Liam Hemsworth, if “Adore You” took the same source, this seems to be one of the few songs that sheds a positive light on their relationship.
