“2 Phones” was released on November 5, 2015, serving as the fifth single from Gates' debut studio album Islah. It made it to number 17 on the US Billboard 100, the first time Gates had ever cracked the top 20, and, as of October 2016, his highest charting track. It also made into the Canadian top 100. It’s since been certified double platinum, with 2 million+ sales in the US alone.

The song’s accompanying music video premiered on January 1, 2016 on Kevin’s YouTube account. It was directed by Jon J, who previously directed the music videos for Gates' “Kno One” and “Really Really.”
