Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)

Billy Ocean

“Caribbean Queen (No More Love On The Run)” was Ocean’s first release for Jive Records, and became that label’s first US chart-topper. In other countries, it was given other titles such as “European Queen” and “African Queen”.

It became Ocean’s first of three number one hits in the US, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks, Billboard’s R&B Singles chart for 4 weeks and Billboard’s Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart for a week in the fall of 1984. It also reached #1 in Canada and New Zealand and was a top ten hit in Australia. In the UK, “European Queen was a minor hit before "Caribbean Queen” peaked at #6 four months later.

The song also won Billy Ocean a Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
