Astra et Luna

Astra et Luna

Enya

Bearing arrangement similarities to “Wild Child”, “Astra et Luna” sees Enya return to the language of Latin to describe a clear night’s sky. While the song seems initially out of place in it’s focus, the lyrics of the second verse do touch on the “theme” of journeys present in the rest of the album.

The song’s lyrics also link back to “The Forge of the Angels”. Though Enya may be singing about the literal sea of water, it could be argued that the sea she refers to is a metaphor for the sky through which the Loxian people travel on their “ships”.
