“Make Me Like You” is about Stefani’s boyfriend, Blake Shelton. He tweeted his support for the song after its release on iTunes. It’s the second single from Stefani’s third studio album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like. Originally planned to be released on February 16th as a ‘late Valentine’s Day present’ for Gwen’s fans, it was released on February 12th.

Talking about writing the track with Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter, Gwen Stefani commented:

We were losing our minds. It was called “Make Me Like You” and we couldn’t believe it like how did we write this song? It’s so good!

The music video for “Make Me Like You” was filmed on television during a four-minute commercial break at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards on February 15, becoming the first ever live-shot video.
