Veronica comes to Heather McNamara’s aid after receiving a phone call from her, who is on a double date with Kurt, Ram, and Heather Duke. Veronica gets there only to find out that McNamara set her up for date rape so she herself could get away from it. Ram and Kurt go on to sing about the blue balls she gives them by rejecting their advances, which is fitting to Veronica’s signature color being blue.
“Blue” is no longer being performed in Heathers productions, as the writers said in an interview with Playbill:
“Blue” has always been polarizing. Some thought “Blue" was wonderful and all in good fun. Others were offended, feeling we were treating date rape as a laughing matter. It went onto our list of things we knew we needed to alter or replace.
It is replaced by “You’re Welcome”.
