Dusty Trails

Dusty Trails

Lucius

“Dusty Trails” is the eleventh and last track of the record Good Grief by Brooklyn indie pop band Lucius. The group released the song on February 26, 2016 as the fourth and final promotional single for the album, which officially dropped two weeks later on March 11.

Much of Good Grief was inspired by and/or written on the road while the band toured for a year in support of their successful debut LP, Wildewoman, and “Dusty Trails” serves as a pensive finale for both the album and their travels. Benjamin Naddaff-Hafrey of NPR Music calls it “a song about finding your way in life, and growing older without losing hope. It is reassuring in its fortitude, and ceaseless in its hope.”

Sonically, “Dusty Trails” is the closest Lucius gets on their sophomore album to approaching the folk leanings of Wildewoman, a return mirrored in the song’s lyrical themes of going home.
