Prince’s “Black Muse” was recorded in 2010 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA. Inspired by his then-girlfriend Damaris Lewis, the song was intended for the album Welcome 2 America; that album never materialized but the song was played on the opening night of the Welcome 2 America tour in 2011.

In December 2015 the song appeared as tenth track on the album HITnRUN Phase Two combined with another unreleased track “1000 Lightyears Away.” (At the 3:05 mark “Black Muse” ends and segues directly into “1000.”)
