This is the first song Gucci Mane dropped the day after after being released from jail on May 26th, 2016. It’s a nod to his 2009 song, “First Day Out.” According to Forbes, the song was streamed 1.1 million times in the first 24 hours of release, 900,000 of those in the first 12 hours.

On September 13th, 2013, Gucci was arrested for a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana , and disorderly conduct. After serving a 183 days in jail, Gucci was released, only to be caught with a firearm. He pleaded guilty, and agreed to a plea deal which resulted in his prison stay until late 2016, for possession of a firearm by a felon.

He was subsequently released from prison four months early, causing social media to explode with the anticipation of new music. Gucci wasted no time and dropped “First Day Out Tha Feds” on Soundcloud the next day.
