“Dance Monkey”, the 6th track of MAGIC!’s second studio album “Primary Colours”, tells the story of a monkey who once lived in the wild but was conformed to a captive life.

Metaphorically, the song represents the band as a whole after their 2014 summer breakout hit “Rude”. After that bit of success, the band wanted to continue progressing in making the music they loved, but others around them wanted MAGIC! to stick to the same-old stuff they liked from them.

It’s a song about how the public eye sees them as a one-trick pony, and wants them to stay in their lane.
