You’re My Best Friend

Queen

“You’re My Best Friend” was written by the band’s bass player, John Deacon, who has also written their mega-hit “Another One Bites the Dust”. Deacon composed this love song for his new wife, Veronica Tetzlaff, whom he married in January, 1975, shortly before the album was recorded.

Initially featured on A Night at the Opera in November 1975, it was later released as a single, backed with “‘39”. Although it was squeezed between two other hits, “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Somebody to Love”, it nonetheless found a respectable place in Queen’s fans' ears and hearts, peaking at #7 on the UK Singles Charts.
